Soccer soccer soccer

Okay, so school has started, and the kids are loving it (this is Ian's first year in public school, and Bri's first since Kindergarten). The new schedule is about to drive their mom crazy though. Tuesday nights Ian has soccer practice. Wednesday nights Bri has soccer practice and activity girls, and some weeks Jen has a Primary Presidency meeting. Thursdays after school Bri and Ian have piano lessons in Springfield. Friday nights Ian has soccer practice. On Saturday mornings, they each have a soccer game. All we did today was go to soccer games. Jen was so wiped out after her busy week she was too tired to go to Bri's game. We hit 7-11 together after Ian's game for slurpees, which were awesome. I'm sure this will get easier, right?

Awesome Lost video

I was just surfing YouTube and I found this great Lost video that pieces together all the events surrounding the plane crash, including the book club meeting, Desmond and Kelvin fighting on the beach, etc. Very helpful.

VA Beach

We're here at Jim's house in Virginia Beach for the week. We came home from the Morrissey show Monday night and finished packing, loaded the van and hit the road around 12:30. I drove straight through and we got here around 4 am. We didn't even have to slow down.
We spent yesterday at the beach at Sandbridge with Jim. The kids were out in the water almost the whole time. It was soo much fun watching them have soo much fun. Ian was a DEMON on the boogie board. One them even broke under him out in the surf. I got out there with them for a while (on the remaining boogie board) and had a few good rides. Bri made sure everybody got enough munchies. Jim had a good time, but he didn't put on any sunblock and he got nuked. He was bright red when he got home.
Jim took us out for dinner at Seacrest after we showered, and we had a great meal. I had forgotten that they have really good hush puppies, but Ian hadn't--he said to the waitress, "can you give us hush puppies?" Then when they came he buttered them himself and made sure everybody got plenty. He even gave me the last one.
Then Jim took us to Handel's ice cream for dessert. This is really good ice cream. Jen and I got chocolate peanut butter cup brownie (I had 2 scoops in a waffle cone)--phenomenal.
Today we're going back around lunchtime to stake out a good place to watch fireworks tonight. The weather is supposed to be as good as yesterday, but a little warmer.

Morrissey at Wolf Trap

Jen and I went to see Morrissey at Wolf Trap Monday night--it was our first time seeing him. It was amazing to be there, singing along to all these great songs with the man himself and a fricking ARENA full of people. Here was the setlist: The Queen Is Dead / The Last Of The Famous International Playboys / You Have Killed Me / Disappointed / Ganglord / The National Front Disco / Let Me Kiss You / Girlfriend In A Coma / Everyday Is Like Sunday / All You Need Is Me / The Boy With The Thorn In His Side / Irish Blood, English Heart / I Will See You In Far Off Places / Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want / First Of The Gang To Die / That's How People Grow Up / I Just Want To See The Boy Happy / How Soon Is Now? // You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side

The weather was gorgeous--it almost got too chilly for us. The crowd was almost as entertaining as the band--there were a few poor souls there who obviously don't leave the house much :-/ Jen was really amused by the guy who stood next to her, writing the song titles in his pda and dancing, moving his arms around like a loon. We had a blast.
